Henry J. Steinbomer (1902-1964) Drawings, Church architecture in Central Texas 1940-1964

Steinbomer (1902-1964) was considered the most prolific church architect in Texas during the 1940s and 1950s. Born in San Antonio; graduated from the University of Texas (1923); worked with Ralph Cameron, Atlee B. Ayres, Ellis F. Albaugh, Jack L. Duffin; charter member of the Texas Society of Architects; worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps marker program and on the Historic American Buildings Survey; active in the area of historic preservation. This record group, consisting of 3,194 drawings representing 241 different projects (1940-1964), documents the activities of Steinbomer's architectural firm which was active in building San Antonio churches.

"Bartlett Cocke [1901-1992], architect, son of Emmett and Bessie Cocke, was born in Floresville, Texas, on October 30, 1901. He grew up in San Antonio, graduated from the University of Texas in 1922, and attended the School of Architecture at MIT.
